Comment: You guys might be the right people to ask: When I left the Metal arena in the 80's, 'Metal' meant pretty much the type of bands I find on your playlist now. When I checked some Metal magz and Metal mp3streams lately, it was all Slipknot, Filter, etc... which to me was once called 'Crossover', except that it now seems to constitute mainstream 'Metal'. Can anyone solve this riddle for me? Are there any new 'Metal' groups out there, or has the scene simply drifted to 'crossover' and that's it?

Comment: The end of the 70s was the time when metal began forming as a new music genre that spawned out of the rock scene. It started with experiments and specific songs of established 70s rock bands and progressed with bands that were formed at the end of 70s and start of 80s as Metal music bands. The metal music that the 80s defined, today still exists in what is termed as power metal. After 25 years of history the Metal scene has grown considerably and various sub-genres have energed. Power metal or metal in the 'classic' sense is still played today by bands that were formed in the 90's (e.g. HammerFall, Iced Earth) but there are many bands that play different metal. The 90s saw the rise of such genres as black and death. The late 90s saw the rise of metal bands that play a very intersting hybrid of music that combines classical, gothic, metal and other music elements while drawing themes from ancient Greek and Germanic mythologies as well as fiction and fantasy like the lord of the rings etc. See, Blind Guardian, Rhapsody, Luca turilli, Nightwish, or more death oriented bands like Penumbra, after forever, etc. In my opinion, this is all great stuff, although the amount of bad music and bad bands (like Slipknot which I cannot listen to although I do like some songs from Cannibal Corpse) has indeed also increased, but that is a small price to pay. For the fans of good old style cheesy power metal music (old and new) this station has a lot to offer as well as selected great songs from all other metal subgenres including black and death. Metal is the music of the Gods and some lucky mortals like us. Live proud! Never kneel! Die with sword in hand! LW

Its been a long time since I heard a lot of that stuff. I've NEVER heard it on a radio format. I mean, who even KNOWS who STEELER or Armoured Saint is anymore? Well...thank God I got Winamp and heard Lon Wolve. When I am home, it is on. Hell, I even listen to it on headphones at my office! It's a metal heads dream come true. FUCKING AWESOME. I'd pay to keep this alive any day, or to take it to a larger audience, or put it on XM satellite radio. Hell, I want it piped into my coffin when I die.

You play something called "Pissing razors - Toxicity". First I thoght that it might be some cover of System Of A Down, but it appears to be original SOAD.

As long as there is somebody who is strong enough to enforce peace there will be all relative peace all over (and how lucky we are that this someone is America and not say Russia). Peace does not come as the default I am afraid. Sorry! As for thinking, you seem to possess the capacity. Thinking is not enough though; gotta read'em books.

Most sciencist today agrees that it was Rousseau who had right: peace is a state of nature. Probably in school you have read also Alexis de Tocqueville "Democracy in America". You should like this book. It's all about how great American democracy is and why IT IS POSSIBLE IN THIS SHAPE ONLY IN U.S.A. So there is no point in forcing it somewhere else. That much about lectures. If you want I can check for you pargraphes for what I said. Don't write about surgical use of force. Would you call bombarding Kosovo surgical? BTW: now Iraq have peace. American attac will ruin it for many years. And the real reason for this war is oil. Bush is not altruist who sacrifices his soldiers (and probably also civilians if Saddam use bio-weapon) for demoracy somewhere in the middle east. There are many more medieval countries about which names he probably evev don't know. He wants Iraq oil and he will get it no matter of cost. Comment: Yes, I did read Hobbes. I also read Rousseau and a few others.
Hobbes' theory was too crude (and very early) but basically correct.
Rousseau is not generally considered correct by scientists.
In fact he is generally loathed and ridiculed by them.
Rousseau was anti-science as he was a proponent of the view that science corrupts the individual.
He believed the same of arts: that they corrupt the individual.
He was also anti-society. He believed that it was society and its rules that made individuals be mean as they are.
In short he was an early anarchist and hippie - don't take my word for it, ask your local scientist.
So he believed that if you unleashed a bunch of people in the forest, with no clothes and no rules, all would be great.
(note here that the no-clothes condition is required in his system as for cloth-production a process is required and process
entails rules). So, next time you do internet research, watch your sources (or take a couple of philosophy courses at your local
university).
But, Rousseau is not needed to see the truth here (unless you do not believe in evolution).
Look into the animal kingdom (your ancestors and mine). Check out national geographic documentaries for instance and tell me
then where the peace is. Man is not that far removed from the animals you know (also genearally accepted today that we are not anymore festered
and pestered by idiotic religious beliefs). It is today generally accepted that high social organization and scientific discovery
is the only hope of the human kind for peace (and that only intermittent).
The American democracy model and any model of political organization is not something static. It changes and evolves and therefore
it is certainly conceivable for it to evolve enough to succesfully encompasss the whole world. It does not have to happen tomorrow
but it can happen.

Peace keeping war is a dirty job but somebody has to do it. Oh, by the way, where is the oil in this case?

OK, I went too far with interpreting Rousseau, and Hobbes has some right. Why are you so rude? Can't you understand that someone who is not complete fool don't agree with your point of view? I have on my bookshelf Tocqueville and Hobbes.About oil: war in Gulf started beacause Saddam didn't like the way in which Kuweit used their shared oil resaurces. Kuweit bought American technology and was able to produce much more fuel then Iraq. USA defended Kuweit, beacuse they were buying fuel from it. What is the problem now? Bush need more oil sources and Saddam won't sell even one barrel to him. Or makes radicoulus demands. So he is going to kill Saddam and his people to take what he wants. Then under the label of helping in reconstruction of demolished country USA will make big and very profitable investitions in Iraq. They will send there their "international" companys to take care of getting oil. Additionaly it is very good for Bush administration to have enemy outside the country, so the people don't look too much on his hands. Everything is about money. Yes, it is true that USA lost big money in Gulf War. But they saved their source of oil instead. About Polish politics: I don't like it. Especially our aproach to USA. We don't need to be satelite of USA and EU at the same time. We should choose something. It's true: we need money. Our economy is poor. About Kosovo: In Kosovo died too many civilians. It's like treating throat cancer by chopping patients head off. There is no more cancer and no more patient. About peace in Iraq: I meant many years. Look at Afghanistan now. Yes, that was this case in which American intervention was really needed. I am very happy that they attacked Osama. He was real threat to all of the world. Do you know how looks Afghanistan now? It's extremely poor country with clan wars. It is in state worse than medieval.
American attack did no good for peace over there. They gained freedom, but not peace. What is better peace or freedom? I don't feel smart enough to answer this question. Nobody is. Nobody should even try. Now in Iraq rules Saddam and the country is peacefull. Diffrent topic: I find Bush politics very unfair. He makes Saddam disarm himself, so it will be much easier to attack him. Now, since Saddam really started to disarm himself, he should resign from the war and take those 250000 soldiers back to country. Once again: making the war is obviously good for Bush himself and for American nation, but for no one else. Bush can't stop it beacause people in Senat would ask: "why the hell he spent so much money on sending our boys for a trip?". About my listening to your radio: I find myself sincerly American friendly. Every single American I met was great man. I care much about those poor people in big cities of USA which will have to die after Saddam will have used his bio-weapons. So unless you write something else, I'm going to listen to you radio and suggest the same to my friends.

Comment: I am an American, and I have beeen watching this "American friendly" debate going on here for some time. Thus, after hearing from Kort and many others it has been my interpetation that it is not necessary to agree with everything which our government is doing (I personally have many mixed feelings about several issues - not all war related) but support (not lothe or hate) all the American people...essentially one needs to be "people" friendly.
As to KiA's request for an Iranian flag, I have seen no real evidence that he is not "American friendly" other than perhaps he may not agree with the war. I think that you should grant his request for the Iranian flag.

Comment: I agree that the people of Iraq need someone to help them achieve their liberation, and if we achieve this goal in a moderately timely manner then the price of blood will have been worth it. I also however have my reservations, as to whether or not Bush will do all that he claims.
I am very confused as to my stance on this war. If we do what we claim we are doing then I agree. Our government is however well renowned for some royal f’-ups, as well as some success stories. I hope this story will play out as a success.
